Nokia 6212 Classic introduced

Lately, Nokia has been throwing the term ‘classic’ at a fair share of their handsets, bringing us back to an era where old is gold. The 6212 Classic might come in a candybar form factor, but it sure as heck doesn’t carry the baggage of an old handset with the inclusion of integrated Near Field Communication (NFC). Being able to surf the Internet thanks to built-in 3G connectivity, users will be able to share content, access services and information conveniently while conducting payments and ticketing with one tap of the device. Those living in Europe and Asia will be able to look out for the Nokia 6212 classic sometime in Q3 this year, and it is tipped to retail for approximately 200 Euros before taxes and subsidies.

According to Jeremy Belostock, the Head of Near Field Communications, Nokia, “NFC-capable handsets such as the Nokia 6212 classic are set to change the way mobile phone users interact with devices and services in their surroundings. With the Nokia 6212 classic, people can swap items like business cards or calendar notes by simply tapping their handsets together. With ever-increasing device functions and services available, ease-of-use is essential. One way to keep things simple is NFC.”

Other features of the Nokia 6212 Classic includes a 2 megapixel camera, a 2″ QVGA display, built-in stereo FM radio and music player with multiple format support, and a microSD memory card slot (maximum of 4GB). Owners of the Nokia 6212 Classic will be able to personalize and edit their own NFC tags, regardless of whether it is meant for writing calendar entries or setting the alarm clock. Each purchase will come with a trio of sticker tags where one of them will be used to open the NFC introduction in the handset itself.
