CATEGORY: Cell Phones | SOURCE:

This week Motorola announced the new VC6096 in-vehicle/fixed mount mobile computer - a rugged all-in-one solution designed to help maximize driver productivity, reduce costs and improve customer service. The VC6096 in-vehicle/fixed mount mobile computer is a versatile solution that enables the collection of business-essential data - including mileage, location, driver performance and vehicle metrics such as hours of service and arrival and departure times. With integrated GPS and 3.5G WAN connectivity on the GSM network, the VC6096 provides the asset visibility needed to support real-time location-based applications from directions for drivers to fleet location for dispatchers.

The new VC6096 also installed with tools for automatic monitoring and collection of engine operation information - providing dispatchers with visibility into engine error codes to improve overall maintenance, driver productivity, and vehicle utilization. The VC6096 can also provide information on the driving patterns of mobile workers to identify safety issues, eliminate unnecessary wear and tear on vehicles and minimize fuel consumption.

“The VC096 is an exciting in-vehicle/fixed mount mobile computer that will provide enterprise customers with new solutions to increase competitive advantage,” said Plamen Petkov, senior vice president of marketing and business development, Datamax O’Neil. “Our global alliance is evidenced in the completed interoperability testing of our printers with the VC6096 through the Motorola Validated Plus program, guaranteeing channel partners and customers a solid hardware solution.”

The VC6096 vehicle/fixed-mount mobile computer is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2008.
