MiniPC spices, er, slices things up

CATEGORY: Gadget News | SOURCE:

minipc-slice.jpg

MiniPC of Japan has introduced the SA800 compact computer that can be upgraded by stacking on modules instead of opening up the case. This is a similar concept to the Apple Mac mini, letting users throw in a new hard drive or optical drive by adding a new slice. These add-ons are firmly attached but can be removed should the need arise. Core specifications vary widely, depending on the submodel you choose. Pick from Intel Celeron, Core Solo, Core Duo, and Core 2 Duo processors that are accompanied 1GB or 2GB of RAM. Additional features such as an eSATA port or WiFi connectivity requires you to shell out extra moolah. Prices start from $569 and can only go upwards from there.
