No Internet in Egypt, India, and other countries
The Internet is a Series of Tubes - Senator Ted Stevens in 2006 - wiki.
The bad news, is that one of those tubes which is actually undersea, suffered some kind of damage today and caused a few problems: 70% of Egypt didn’t have access to the net, while in India and Gulf Arab, the bandwidth was cut down to less than 50%.
According to AT&T, they already know where the problem is located - somewhere in a cable between France and Egypt.
As you can imagine, many companies and businesses depend on the Internet, with the stock market being one of them.
So far, there is no exact information when the Internet is suppose to be up and running good again, but the expected date is in 10 to 15 days.
Example of frustration displayed by a lawyer from Egypt:
I can’t do anything because I manage all my work by e-mail. It is very frustrating As soon as I came in (to work) at 10 a.m. I didn’t have access to the Internet … If it goes into the next working week it is going to be a nightmare.
HP and recycled printer cartridges
In order to save the environment (and some money too) HP is going to start using a new and improved process that is able to recycle all the old cartridges, and afterwards can create new ones. This recycling process will save them big bucks, because the cartridges can last (almost) forever.
How it works:
The process first breaks down plastic in printer cartridges made of PET (polyethylene terephthalate), after which additives including fibers and resins are used to strengthen and regenerate the plastic. The remolded plastic is then used to manufacture new HP inkjet cartridges.
Thanks to the previous recycling process, that began on 2005, Hewlett-Packard has already created 200 million printer cartridges without spending a dime. In terms of weight and all kind of recycled hardware, the number goes up to 1 billion pounds.
