HD Radios from Sony and Dual

CATEGORY: Gadget News | SOURCE:

Sony and Dual have released a couple of HD Radios for the car audio junkies. If you don’t know the meaning of HD Radio and are interested in this “new” technology, here is a small explanation from the wiki:

The HD Radio system is unique in that it allows stations to simulcast MP3-quality compressed digital audio and traditional analog audio, without changing to new frequency bands.

Anyway, Sony has the DCX-GT520 and the CDX-GT320 radios to show off. The first and best one costs $140, while the second is $40 less, which gives a final price of $100. In order to actually listen to High Definition Radio, you will need to buy the XT-100 HD Radio tuner that costs an extra $100. In the end, the new car audio systems from Sony cost at least $200.

In case you are not interested in HD radio, the Sony devices are able to offer other alternatives: satellite radio, and compatibility with iPods plus other media players thanks to their input jack.

As for Dual, they have the XHD6425 and XHD6420 radio models. One good feature about the Dual HD radios is the inclusion of a USB port on the face, meaning that you can simply plug a USB flash drive and listen to some music. There is also an extra feature that offers Bluetooth technology so you can drive and talk on the cellphone at the same time. In terms of price, the Dual car stereo system radios cost less than $150.
