Getting organized, what organizer to use, & what’s next from Palm?

CATEGORY: Gadget News | SOURCE:

palm announcementStaying organized, its a difficult task that all of us are involved in, one way or another, EVERY SINGLE DAY.

There are a ton of options: Moleskine, Palm Pilot, Blackberry, Online with Google Cal, Yahoo Calendar, Scrybe, Plaxo, the old standby Outlook, Highrise, and many more.

As I began writing this article I found this note (and this one), indicating Mr. Hawkins and the team at Palm are releasing a new product tomorrow morning (11:30 Pacific Time)

Hmmmm,,,

It’s a very vexing list with many different routes to go. You may remember I’ve discussed planners previously and, since the death of my palm pilot data, (still a little angst ridden about that one) I’ve been using Scrybe.

It doesn’t do anything wrong, but simply put, it has not been a better solution than the Palm Pilot was. Who knows what Palm will bring us tomorrow! The advantage of the pilot is simplicity. It is always with you, lightweight, and fully featured. I think the only real close option to it is the blackberry.

In terms of software after my Palm debacle I’ve been using Scrybe. It has been functional, effective, and while still in beta, a truly effective tool. There are some definite drawbacks that I have noticed, (hmm, maybe I should write a full missive straight to the Scrybe people). Anyway, it does its job effectively, but I really haven’t been able to make it sing to me like I always could with my pilot.

I found the Yahoo links to move my pilot data online as well, however, I hadn’t been able to get it to sync correctly to date. I think I may wait to see what Palm is bringing out. Hopefully they won’t pull an Apple and just tease us for months about an impending product’s rollout. I’d be up for an iPhone, but there’s no way I can switch phone companies, and buy a $500 phone, even if I’d be the target market.

The big questions here are: Palm,, what’s coming down the pipe? What’s the organizer plan to go with for personal use, small business use, and for big business use? Hmm, two big questions split into 5. Comments away!
