Cloning your hard drive is easy with the DriveWire

CATEGORY: Gadget News | SOURCE:

Drivewire

One of the most annoying things I used to do when in the computer repair business was to clone a hard drive for someone. Sure, it was a fairly easy task, but it dominated my computer for hours on end for something so simple. Sure, there are a number of disc cloning systems out there, but those are generally pretty salty. This DriveWire adapter from Apricorn Products looks rather enticing.

At first it just seems like it’s your average external drive connector. However, this product comes with its own cloning software that will take care of everything for you. Unfortunately, they don’t say how long it takes to perform the clone, and I can’t imagine that you’d be able to continue using your PC once the cloning process had begun. On second thought, maybe this wouldn’t be a great alternative.

At the very least, this wouldn’t be a bad tool for those that find themselves working on drives on a regular basis. It comes with connectors for SATA and ATA drives (desktop and notebook) . You can pick one up $39.99
